wind offers a clean and renewable source of energy for California
 

SOLUTIONS Overview

Our most populous state, California generates a large carbon footprint. Thankfully, California has made history by establishing innovative global warming policies that serve as models for other states and the federal government. 

For example, 14 states adopted California's landmark global warming standards for cars and trucks, pushing the federal government to adopt a similar standard.  California is setting a high bar for state renewable energy standards by aiming to get a third of the state's electricity from renewable sources like the wind and sun by 2020. California has also adopted the world's most comprehensive plan to cut global warming pollution across the entire economy.

Despite California's laudable work to date, more work is needed on designing and implementing California's climate solutions policies to ensure meet out climate goals. For more information on California's global warming solutions, visit the Union of Concerned Scientists main website:
